Webb Bridge Middle School History

The name Webb Bridge Middle School draws inspiration from the nearby bridge that covers Big Creek nearby and in remembrance of a few Webb families that lived in the area since the 1840’s. One of the most well-known figures among these families was Reverend John M. Webb who resided in a log cabin near, what is now, the post office on Webb Bridge Road.

John M. Webb was an upstanding member of the community known for his service as a Baptist preacher, farmer, and teacher. Mr. Webb even fought in the Civil War and was wounded in combat. Reverend Webb began teaching in a small classroom on Jones Bridge Road, where his legacy helped lay the groundwork for what is now Webb Bridge Middle School.
