Haynes Bridge Middle School Overview

Haynes Bridge Middle School is a public middle school within the Fulton County Schools district located in Alpharetta, Georgia. The school’s mascot is an eagle and their colors are blue and red. Over 600 students attend the school with most from the Alpharetta, Georgia area. Due to the need for extra space, the school underwent 2 expansions with one in 1989, and the other in 2007. The school now has over 130,000 square-feet along with a football field, tennis courts, and a track. 

Academic Summary 

Haynes Bridge Middle School ranks in the top 17% of all public middle schools in Georgia. They also boast a very low teacher-to-student ratio of 11:1 which allows for a more connected and engaging environment for the students to succeed. 

According to data from the U.S. News and World Report, 45% of students met or exceeded the proficiency level for Math and 59% met or exceeded the proficiency level for Reading. These scores place the school among the top 10 middle schools in Fulton County. 

Haynes Bridge Middle School History

The Haynes Bridge Middle School has a history that goes back to 1894 when Richard Luther Haynes Jr. passed away. Upon his passing, the 250-acre plantation he owned was sold off in parcels. One specific 30-acre parcel eventually became the site for Haynes Bridge Middle School.

In 1983, Haynes Bridge Middle School opened for grades 6-8. Children came from, then, Dolvin Elementary School, Kimball Bridge Elementary School, Alpharetta Elementary School, Northwestern Elementary School, and Milton High School (8th grade students). 

Today, pieces of the area’s history remain on the property like a pre-Civil War chimney from the 1700’s that was part of the John and Abi Haynes Plantation. This chimney was restored and relocated from near GA-400 and Haynes Bridge Road to the school’s property in 2000.
