Celebrate the holiday season with a day out in the city with this unique Atlanta Christmas market! You won’t want to miss one of the hottest Buckhead attractions, the Atlanta Christkindl Market. Organized by the German American Cultural Foundation, this event offers a truly different cultural fusion of classic German traditions with the magical allure of Atlanta spirit.
The Foundation takes great pride in the event and recruits authentic German vendors and Atlanta-based vendors, contractors, and volunteers to curate an old country reminiscent experience with the distinct flair of Atlanta soul! There are around 40 vendors offering handmade goods, cultural culinary experiences, foods, and drinks, all perfectly handpicked to create the perfect old-world holiday experience.
If you’re looking for things to do in Atlanta with kids then this is an awesome opportunity for fun with the whole family. The Atlanta Christkindl Market runs from November 22-December 24th (Christmas Eve) and is open Fridays-Sundays from 11:00AM-9:00PM and Mondays-Thursdays from 3:00PM-8:00PM. The hours slightly differ on Monday December 23rd (11:00AM-8:00PM) and Christmas Eve on Tuesday December 24th (11:00AM-5:00PM).

Atlanta Botanical Gardens Christmas Lights

Join the Atlanta Botanical Garden for a truly unforgettable holiday experience. The Garden Lights, Holiday Nights (presented by Invesco QQQ) returns for its 14th year, even brighter, with “Nature’s Wonders”, the biggest synchronized curtain of sound and light in the world. There will also be installations of towering plant sculptures from the Alice’s Wonderland Returns exhibit, all adorned with twinkling lights! Be on the lookout for the Skyline Garden’s colossal White Rabbit as well as the Cheshire Cat looming mischievously over the Chess Set.
The entire lighting experience is expansive, so be prepared to walk outdoors for around 1.5-2 hours heeding Atlanta weather conditions. The event is rain or shine, but there is the option to buy Flex Tix for weather insurance on your ticket. There are dining options available within the Atlanta Botanical Garden including the Longleaf Restaurant *reservations highly encouraged*(5:00PM-10:00PM), Longleaf Quick Café (open 5:00PM-10:30PM) and Snack Bar, Garden Bar, and S’Mores (5:00PM-10:30PM).
The Snack Bar is located near the cone tree and offers light “festival fare” and drinks, or pick up a S’Mores kit from the Skyline Garden to roast your own S’Mores! For adult beverage options check out the Garden bars hot chocolate and cider (spiked available), soft drinks, wine, beer.

Roswell Christkindl Market

If you want to check out the Atlanta Christkindl Market but want to stay a bit closer to Christmas attractions in Alpharetta, there is a location in Roswell as well! The German American Cultural Foundation of Atlanta is hosting the Christkindl Market in Roswell Georgia in addition to their Atlanta Christmas Market. The venue for this market is particularly special because it takes place in historic Roswell’s Bulloch Hall!
Expect to be transported back in time for a southern colonial Christmas experience of Roswell history mixed with classic German traditions. The Greek Revival style mansion from 1893 is adorned with lush wreaths, flanked by beautiful Christmas trees, bows, lights and more. You can expect around 20-40 handpicked vendors offering handmade goods, sweets, homemade mulled wine, gift shops, pictures with Santa, and plenty more culinary experiences and activities!
This Roswell Christmas market is free admission and runs from November 22nd-December 22nd (2 days earlier than the Atlanta Christkindl Market) and is even pet friendly (leashed only).

Cumming GA Christmas Parade

Moving a little North of Alpharetta, there are also Christmas things to do in Cumming Georgia! One of the best Christmas activities near Alpharetta is the city of Cumming GA Christmas Parade on December 14th that begins at 5:00 PM at Forsyth Central High School! After the parade starts, it journeys through Tribble Gap and Castleberry Road, through Downtown Cumming GA, and ending at the Cumming Fairgrounds GA. There is no festival after the Cumming GA Christmas Parade this year, but there will be plenty of other attractions in Alpharetta to enjoy!
Dahlonega GA Christmas

If you’re looking for a truly magical North Georgia Christmas, Dahlonega GA Christmas activities have you covered! There are holiday events spanning from November 29th-January 5th through the New Year. The longest running events during the Dahlonega GA Christmas season are the Dahlonega GA Christmas Lights and Christmas Tea events that run until January 5th. The second longest running events are the Festival of Trees and Carriage Rides that both last up until December 31st.
