Milton High School History

Milton High School held its first classes in 1921 and served children in first grade through 11th grade in all of Milton County. The building did not have heating, and the schools did not have school buses or school lunches. However, Milton made significant improvements to its school in 1932 after Milton and Fulton Counties merged.

In the 1950’s, Milton High School became exclusive to grades 8 through 12 due to the construction of a new elementary school. Also, Milton added a new concrete football stadium that was a community favorite in the area. Twenty years later, the area experienced great economic growth, allowing Milton High School to add a front office, cafeteria, and library!

In the 1980’s, the opening of a middle school for grades 6 through 8 allowed Milton High School to be recognized as the first comprehensive high school in Fulton County. Years later, the school underwent several renovations such as a new Center for the Arts, a science wing, new physical education buildings, a more modern school cafeteria, and more!

In 2005, Milton High School moved to its current location due to the school’s need to expand and keep up with modern times. Around the same time, the City of Milton was formed. This allowed Milton High School to be the new school in the new city.

Today, Milton still maintains its spot as a top public high school in the Fulton County District and finds new ways and opportunities to push for student success!
